Dry Fly Tying
How many are in a dry bundle of feathers to fly a chair?
So I'm looking at some places online to buy some grizzly feathers. Most of them say it is not enough to tie the package "X-dozen" flies (which varies by a certain size from 14 to 18) .. Of Anyway, I can not seem to know roughly how many feathers it could actually be in these lots and parcels .. Anyone know? Ive also seen the purchase of 1 / 2 or 1 / 4 saddles, but still do not know the approximate number or length of the two? FYI: I am looking into it for purposes such as bulk craft feathers have proven difficult for me and I need to find a lot of them (preferably more) for my crafts, so I thought it might be an option abetted, but since I do not know much about fly tying Iguess not really lol
This is a difficult question, because when it's feathers are not all alike. There are some companies that are high end and they charge a fortune but you will get constant feathers undergo strict quality controls. I posted some links that have some feathers well and if you read you can find those who say they are consistent in what you get. Feathercraft is one of more than a few feathers in the light of different colors, etc.
