How to get rid of the smell in the tackle box?
My mother hated the smell of fish, so I had to clean all that exists with a cloth and Lysol anti-bacterial health-smelling sheets lysol ... ... And I know for a fact that fish will never bite a leader, sinker, or hook with such smell it. No matter what bait or lure me since. I will be your summer soon and I'm probably going to go fishing in a few months. So what should I do? Buying a dead fish and smear its guts on everything in the tackle box? Or I can hose down with water?
I'm not sure what the makeup of the box stuff is, so taking a final decision on cleanup is reduced to only two possible options in place that probably would have suggested. My first thought was to turn the table upside down on the lower tray unit Mom's dishwasher and run it through a full cycle or two. However, if the box is plastic, you will not want to allow the washer during the normal drying cycle because the intense heat reorganize the box shape of something much less than what will be a pleasure. To avoid that risk, consider running the box through the machine only to begin the drying cycle. Then remove the box and let the dishwasher to the end and off before starting a second wash if it is really necessary. The alternative is to take the picture to your local car wash and use high pressure washing hot water and soap to give the picture a good hose out inside and out. If you still can smell the mom cleaning agents used in its case after a wash cycle, start again and repeat the process. The second is to remove all traces of Lysol, etc. As a final thought, consider VERY LIGHT "dust" of WD-40 on the trays, drawers, hinges, etc. The product of the displacement of water is also a BIG fish attractant in addition to maintaining the hooks and metal lures from rust and corrosion. (Wipe off excess with a paper towel or clean cloth.) Its pleasant smell will be much more attractive to you and the fish.
