Do I have the right fishing gear?
I'm in San Jose, CA fishing for the first time since I was a child. There are some large reservoirs and a couple of ponds percolation that have been going to this week. I have been told they are full of bluegill and catfish. I am using a basic Zebco rod and reel, with a float ........ then, about 10 inches down I am using 2 lead weights, then about 10 inches below is my hook. I'm using Snell # 8 hooks (small for bluegill). I'm fishing with live bait, usually red worms and Nightcrawlers. I have not even had a bite in the last 5 days. I have not really seen anyone else catching fish around me. Is it the weather? It's 60 degrees in the morning. I tried to use the mass of blood to the catfish, but I do not think he has the right platform for that. Can anyone explain the correct placement of the cork, weights and hook? I make sure I'm doing the right thing .... I went to the local store and just tried to talk me into buying expensive equipment.
You may consider the total elimination and cork online "tight" fish with the pole, or held in hand or on a carrier bar. Place an egg-shaped 1 / 4 oz lead on its main line, then a glass account then tie on a swivel. Place the swivel hook Snell and attach the bait. To use a mass of bait "bait holder hook (a hook Treble with a spring wrapped around sugarcane). Occurs when a fish hook with easy jerking movement. Float is fished with a sheet of cork and white and is better areas. You can get these floaters (cylindrical shaped Styrofoam) to deal with the most stores. Enjoy the fishing!
