In the Amazon by sea and Soul: Part 2

Day Eleven

Transcending the demarcation line between the murky waters of the Amazon Tapajós and Rio Claro, beneath the clear blue, early morning skies, the Princess Royal was docked at the port for Terminal Docks in Santarem in 0846 in a grade two, 24-minutes of latitude north and 54 degrees, 44-minutes west longitude, position in a crowd of smaller river boats, against a cause-north, zero degree heading.

Brown Water, such as the Amazon, the flow over sedimentary rock and thus carry large amounts of sediments with them, while so-called black waters, such as the Tapajós river itself, the flow of crystalline rock over and drain heavily forested areas. Due to their different densities, temperatures, and acidity blend is resisted by many miles, and only then, induced by turbulence.

Founded in 1661, Santarem, located almost midway between the two main Amazonian cities of Belem and Manaus in the Amazon River and crossing the river 15 miles wide Tapajós, the basin is the third largest metropolis with a population of 265,000 and serves as the gateway to your deepest heart.

In 1927, Henry Ford had obtained 43,000 miles square of rainforest, cleared 50,000 acres of it, and planted three million trees, rubber, construction a town called "Fordlandia" to facilitate and serve the mass planting, but a range of 17-year, $ 20 million cost had been only in failure and that the resale of land to Brazil for the paltry sum of $ 250,000.

Of the population of Santarem, echoing the Yukon in late 1800, erupted during the night with the 1958 discovery of a vein of gold in Itaituba, 60 miles on the way to Rio Tapajos, which acts as gate entry of thousands of miners who were on both rivers and air.

Eleven years later, in 1969, conducting a road connected the city of Cuiaba with the road network in Brazil, for the first time, although the river still serves as its main artery. Small boats arrive early morning in order to sell new caught catfish, piranhas, and picaruru, among other types, while the boats to act as floating buses for transport between the Amazonian peoples all day and night, nourished by the floating gas stations.

Santarém is a leading manufacturer of beds, which offer many advantages over mattresses: cool, cheap and portable, even for use on boat trips during the night, while they are hot and mattresses moldy easily.

The farm near cassava, which is in the way of the Chao Alter and operated by farm families is a series of straw huts showing indigenous fruits, applications medicinal plants, extraction of rubber trees, and the production of cassava flour.

Cutting the outer bark of the rubber tree produces red wound as if there is bleeding, and this gradually coagulates in white, rubber latex, which is then extracted.

Manioc flour, which is a nutritious meal of the Amazon basin, is processed by a human-powered saw to cut the poisonous manioc root. This squeezing of liquid into flour thick and toasted before being loaded into sacks for transportation to market. The operation is conducted entirely outdoors, under a crude, thatched roof.

When the sun, even in the skies of the cake, she arched westward in 1700, life in the Amazon port of Santarem, had begun to relax: the tri-deck, open boats on the one hand, the means of connectivity between civilization lining her pockets, long set out on their daily schedules, while a truck backed in a well below the imposing Royal Princess cruise, had accepted the transfer of production. Extensions of vegetation that had led to the city taken in the horizontal velvet greens highlighted, while the Tapajós river shone a silver mirror. The river had been lifesavers Amazonian communities "The same way that I had followed for as far as tiny, two-day portion of the river crossing.

I look back In this brief interval. The banks of the river had been used to define the path of the vessel, size limitations that left little choice, if it had wished to reach your destination safely. However, what has defined my way, and how fate takes?

Dusk touched the sky a color watercolor orange over the Amazon jungle in the west, which developed in the light blue stripes and even intensified in a blaze Refaccionario, making the silver cloud scattered sculptures and gray, and the Amazon a dark, quiet, metal surface. The surface once again facilitate the buoyancy of the vessel and the circulation throughout the dark, while the Amazonian people use it to their lives when the sun had one again reappeared the next day.

An excellent dinner at the restaurant that night club had offered White Zinfandel wine feuillette velouté of roasted eggplant with garlic and goat cheese, cream of barley soup with smoked hocks; turkey escalope in Roquefort cream sauce served with pumpkin sauce with spices and Red bliss potatoes, Austrian Sacher cake with coffee ice cream and coffee latte.

Having slipped its moorings in 1827, the Princess Royal pursed now at 280 degrees west and a smooth, 12-knot pace in 2200. Plying the Amazon River whose ship illuminated coffee and milk-Hue appeared as solid snow on the slalom helmet which gradually closed the gap between Santarem and Boca da Valeria.

Day Twelve

A thin orange line crossed the eastern horizon in 0540, entering the undulating silver formations stretching to the tropopause, as the mountains at higher altitudes, announcing another wet day saturated in the Amazon. Continuing with the wood, at ten knots, the ship followed a 243-degree heading.

Anchored in the morning, silver in 0723, with six strings, the Princess Royal stopped the movement at a level two, 27-minutes of latitude north and 56 degrees, 27 minutes west longitude coordinate.

In the broader supply of hydraulically operated ship boarding ramp on deck 3, several small, wooden canoes, barely large enough to support families in the village and children and so immersed in the muddy Amazon water level has been paralleled by their sides and had to be continuously collected back, paddling to the giant liner to watch, gawk, touch and "civilization", a lifestyle unknown for them and therefore something like an alien visitor to earth. Although the ship's passengers had expected to sample the local lifestyle, this first meeting had reported that they consider the experience of every bit of reciprocity and, if it were not for benign curiosity, they themselves could have been interpreted as "invaders."

Located at the confluence of the Amazon River and the Rio da Valeria, Boca da Valeria, translated as "mouth of the river Valeria," is representative of the thousands of small isolated communities in the Amazon basin, where the base, almost primitive "riberinhos you" or "river people" live from the river and the rainforest in a dozen wooden houses, supported by columns, its 75 residents who attend one school and church and sharing a communal farm field for cassava and produce. You can, by any measure, be considered the "real Brazil".

Covering the short distance from the Royal Princess amid the sea water, bow, pink dolphins, my tender penetrated thick, swampy, molasses with the double bottom of pontoon, eluding two boats of the river before approaching the wooden houses on stilts, thatched huts supported and which marks the Boca da Valeria "pocket of humanity" which also could have been considered A pocket of the (detained) time. To the river dwellers, this was "home." He had been everything he had known. We brought our preconceived "ideas" of the house, which was all he had known. None had been the same, or even remotely close. Such time was to find some elements of convergence between the two during my visit.

As we landed on the small, wooden, floating dock, itself little more than a ship floating, I heard the words: "Welcome to the jungle!"-the last, and only in English, the presentation in the dirt road had brought the crowd of villagers and indigenous children, and quickly realized that we had shared the same desire to know and experience the lifestyle divergent from the others. I was in the process, he served as the bridge between my world and yours.

The dirt road took more beyond the line of posts thatched roof, what could be the market of the village, and that shows their local handmade crafts, economic activity aimed primarily at tourists on the communal village. The entrepreneurial process of buying, selling, and building was totally new to them.

The "stucco Escola Municipal de San Francisco "or" Escuela Municipal de San Francisco ", the outer yellow and blue, and windows with wooden shutters without glass, interior is spartan tables and chairs, a balloon, and a blackboard, on which hung a banner with mathematical examples divided into four functions, such as "Adição" or "addition" and "multiplicaco" or "propagation", among others. The one room school had clearly served as the core of the community, or heart, and the channel for knowledge, and pride of learning and high grades had been equally shared here and demonstrated by the task and the pictures hanging on the wall, human emotions that covers the distance of my hometown in the United States in this small town in Amazonia.

Followed and surrounded by a crowd of children as I surveyed the room and feverishly took notes, I realized his interest and curiosity, but not in my interest or activity, but in the gifts he had brought perceived by them and made at the bag hanging from my hand. May we all, in as tourists, potentially unknown items carried for them in the modern world in the primitive forest prick intensified their curiosity, but had been simply curious and want to know if I had brought nothing to them had been different when I, as a young child, came in a bag from a relative visiting and hope that had been asked, "Have you nothing there for me?

The only people "street" was ahead Me, a rock, dirt road lined with a handful of wooden stilts, support structures are considered "houses", each with a miniature boat as it he knew my boat for fishing and short sea, submerged in the brown water behind them. They were clearly the village idea of "one car in every garage, "although these" Cars "has been the needs of your lifestyle.

One of the women in the area, invited me to his house. Locks and police stations had been replaced by confidence here, or maybe the reverse order has had on my company. Greed and materialism and comforts of life may have increased significantly, but these "primitive" people have preserved their virtue and therefore connections with God, whose compliance appears to obviate the need for these luxuries, unless and until he was confronted with temptation. Unfortunately, we, as tourists, it represents.

The house, visited by three crude, tables wooden serving as steps and is divided into three rooms, it smelled of scarcity: a kitchen with little more than a table, a living room with a single seat, hammocks and a bedroom only recognizable for its murals, but a piece of modern civilization that seemed extremely out of place, assaulted my eyes and ears and rolled back what had become my mental picture of life here: a large but very dated, black and white television. Because the world had come, that could have served as a welcomed sight, but it only served to spoil. I have traveled here to learn and experience what had been "new", not to see what he had known, and I quickly turned my eyes.

The house across the "street" looked a hammock suspended between two piles below which obviously has its main plant and one of them had been tied to a pig, which could have been the family pet or dinner, while steam rose from a poor stove supported on the balcony behind him.

A perpendicular, the route they were forced to produce communal village and farm fields of cassava, the two main sources of livelihood that is not the same river. The path and disappeared into the rainforest.

The jungle Amazon itself, the world's largest rainforest surrounded by the mountains of Guiana in the north central plateau of Brazil to the south, the Atlantic Ocean in the east and the Andes in the west, had been "the people" backyard "and occupied the watershed of the Amazon River and its tributaries, which covers four million square kilometers in nine countries: Brazil, French Guiana, Surinam, Guyana, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Colombia. It covers 40 percent of Brazil alone. Its existence is the result of high, stable temperatures, humidity and rainfall.

The rainforest, spanning more than two thirds parts of the Amazon basin, is an extension of the dry forest and savannah in the north and the south and mountain forest in the west in the Andes. Its dense vegetation, forming several levels that prevent closed wards nearly ten per cent of sunlight reaches the ground and upward of 150 feet, more plant life between these levels in the soil itself. His extensive flora, with an average of more than 250 species of trees per acre typically includes rosewood, mahogany, rubber tree and the Brazil nut.

Several million species of insects, birds, and other forms of life, some still unrecorded by science, are crocodiles, anacondas, boas, manatees, dolphins, water sweet, piranhas, electric eels, catfish, and freshwater turtle in the world, the 150-yellow book hit other sideneck whose habitat is only Madagascar. Land mammals include the jaguar, tapir, sloths, deer, and monkeys.

Of the 16 million people inhabit the basin, more than half live in rural settlements, as Boca da Valeria, lining the river is a living food, water, soil for planting, and transportation.

Upon reaching the end of the town's main artery, which had been covered with grass and showed considerable structure on stilts, I realized that my time warp time and culture is broken suddenly, as if a smooth driving car suddenly hit a brick wall, where the exchange of information had revealed that the brown water that are known as the "Amazon" to support the high-rise metropolis lined balcony designated Princess Royal. The pieces related to my emotions more than anything else, my early feelings of loneliness, innocence, simplicity, and lack of importance they attach to my broken soul by the ease of glass. This floating city in a few short hour, take me away, away from both its geographic location and emotional simplicity, the last of which somehow promotes spirituality, and I return to the physical comfort and wholeness, where all my desires, needs and desires are fulfilled immediately. I looked down and felt overwhelming shame and disappointment in myself.

A villager, who attend his boat, he invited me to his house where he later met his wife. Large, steep wooden stairs leading to an outdoor balcony just as great. His "inside" is divided into only two rooms: the kitchen and bedroom.

Communication with his Spanish wife, who replied in Portuguese, he had learned that the kitchen is decidedly well-stocked visited in the village houses with others of a center table covered with tablecloth on a picnic, a variety of hanging aluminum pots and pans, and an antiquated, yet still operation coincides with the hot stove, was the location of the little kitchen, with most of it held outdoors on the internal heat in the structure Wood, despite the fact that all the windows had been paneless.

The considerable size of room, receiving fresh breezes cross ventilation overnight from the river, because of their diametrically opposite window and door (none of which had a glass or an actual, hinged panel that covers it), presented a nearly-as-bed house and a hammock. But the feature that had seemed more relevant and somewhat out of place in this primitive village where reading not seem to belong to the list of activities necessary for survival such as fishing, planting, and food, was the bookshelf.

"Wow, see all these books, "he had shouted to the villagers in Spanish." Why have them? "I wanted to know.

"I am the master the village school, which was back in Portuguese, pointing to the school house down the road, and somehow it seemed right that a person of such importance, who had served as a key model would have one of the larger houses. This man was the village leader and liaison to enlightenment.

We spent considerable time reviewing the class books, each for a different degree and is printed in Portuguese, and is divided into subjects such as reading, math and language. There was even a chapter for the Spanish vocabulary.

During the afternoon, return to standing on the rock and dirt-stained red tender to the pier, which had discovered something surprising that the cruise ship, which should have been clearly visible from this point of view, had disappeared, not because I was unconscious or psychologically erased in my mind, in my quest to complete my original vision of reality, but because one characteristic of the Amazon-flash flood had lent visibility, and everyone in it, the absence, and the floor has been transformed into a series of variables the size of the lakes.

Departing from the village in the offer, once I stopped thinking about the high proportion of children to adults, children, whether they belonged to this people or anyone else in the world, had been the hope of the future, but that, through experience, spread his hands instantly search for gifts and money from me and passengers alike, as if the cruise ship has been a regular, multi-annual Santa Claus visit.

As individuals, people of the river had shared the same qualities and basic features, like the rest of us: identity, personality, talent, expected contribution to the world, the hopes, dreams and the ultimate achievement leaving footprints in the mud when they had reached the end of their life trajectories. His people had provided raw, primitive, wooden structures called homes where their families had bondage commercial communal meal to sustain the river and land, a house of school to learn, share ideas, grow and advance, a church to return to worship and connect with the higher authorities, and the role models of parent, teacher and priest to lead, inspire and emulate, fully demonstrating that despite differentiation geographic location and disparity of lifestyle, which had originated from the same source.

However, I have continued to focus on the outstretched hands and could not help wondering whether, as the tourists who gave freely and freely taught to expect, somehow had begun to corrupt and plunder their primitive pristine, innocent, non-materialistic pocket of time. But somehow I knew we had ...

I myself gave the schoolmaster a corner hall larger than a weekly, if not the monthly salary in Boca da Valeria, if in fact there has been some, but salaries do not justify an investment in education.

Somewhere down the line, when the process of conversion to modernity and materialism was irreversible, which would to find a new Boca da Valeria. When traveling there, I would once again learn from and profit from it. When traveling there, I too would be partially re - responsible for inevitable change.

The Princess Royal slowly retracted his offer hydraulically operated loading ramp on the deck 3, the views of the people and "you riberinhos" progressively decrease in size until the heavy iron panel slammed decided!

I I hope I never lose what you taught me today, I thought ...

The outdoor barbecue lunch served by the pool in the afternoon had included a hamburger with cheese, German potato salad, fresh fruit, and cranberry.

Retract your bid and pick up the anchor, the Princess Royal turned to starboard in 1400 to an initial 020 degrees heading below illustrates cluster waving blue and white mountains, alongside the deep green and red oxide of the bank south of the Amazon River and from the wooden stilt houses leaning back Boca da Valeria, geographic location frozen in time. Not a human soul, adult or child, can be seen, a town somehow, suddenly deserted and desolate, as if the ship's passengers had been infused with life and had quickly taken back after his brief pause there.

Almost silently slip into one of six knots reduce expenses, the vessel entered the state of Amazonas in short Parintins sector.

It moves on the pre-dusk, the silver-water surface was reflected in a barely perceptible drag in 1625, the ship anchored off the island of Tupinambarana, the location of Parintins, through their boat and trailer, marked by two prominent church steeples.

Had eaten dinner at the Sterling Steakhouse, on the night a specialty, reservations-only place to eat in the starboard side of deck 10, which had offered rich, dark wood paneling and a bar, and included wine Merlot, a salad with grilled artichokes, asparagus, roasted peppers, avocado, shaved Parmesan cheese and balsamic grapes, Mediterranean lobster cake with tarragon foam, olives and grilled asparagus, filet mignon, baked potatoes with sour cream and onions, creamed spinach and sauteed mushrooms, a child s'mors seven-layer chocolate cake with strawberries, marshmallows and chocolate sauce and coffee.

The Princess Royal stayed anchored off of Parintins overnight.

Day Thirteen

The sky had woven a loose patchwork of pink, white, gray and silver in 0600.

Parintins, lurking outside the ship's starboard side, was located in Tupinambarana Island and was founded in 1793 during the colonial expansion of the Amazon.

Tupinambarana island itself is part of the world's largest group of islands that had been created river rock, when the river had deposited silt and sediment highlands of the Andes. Today, the 200-mile long island chain is abundant, with beaches, forests and banana plantations.

He noted the Boi Bumba Brazil's second largest folk festival after Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, the city hosts 35,000 in the stadium 'Bumbódromo' bull's head made when the event annual, held in late June, attempts to retell the story rooted in Africa and Europe a hard working ox is robbed and murdered by a farmer to meet the desire of his pregnant wife's tongue, but is later returned to the life of John the Baptist.

Two teams, red, or guarantor, and blue, or capricious, attempt to tell the story in the most extravagant, with costumes, dance, song, elaborately decorated floats, and fireworks, and a secret team elects judges selected by the winner. Team support is indicated by the red or blue clothing of the person on the street, and even the color of the tin Coca-Cola. Parintins is the only place in the world authorized to bottle Coca Cola in cans of blue and red.

Predominant means of transport in the city are the boats and the tricycle.

A lunch buffet, served in the Panorama Buffet had included pork schnitzel, cannelloni with ricotta and spinach in cheese sauce, Mediterranean vegetables and fresh fruits.

Tendrils white cloud, twisting into the sky over the Amazon jungle, had issued a light rain in the hot air thorny and humid throughout the morning, but a threat, dark gray cover once it spread across the river in 1300, which prevents any sunlight reaches the ground.

The transition of moving, the vessels anchored sailboat had been an almost imperceptible because of its overnight, place the middle of rivers, spring decline was not visible, which provide the reference. Instead, their engines are inaudible, was projected forward in the silver surface River over a period of five knots glide on a 243-degree line in 1340 until the waves were deployed on its side, she began her final sector to Manaus.

Mixed emotions were inevitably filled me. The cruise, when combined with the above and many travel by land, road and rail, and through the air, had formed sub-sections of my life's journey. During this, I was out of the Atlantic, Caribbean and the Amazon, had connected the North with South America, had explored Bathelemy St., St. Lucia, Barbados, Devil's Island in French Guiana, and four ports of call along the Amazon in Brazil; significantly enriched it culturally, had learned a lot, has had many unforgettable, once in their life and experience, had met many diverse people, had enjoyed myself, had broadened my horizons, and had re-examined myself and my purpose in life as a result it. Overall, the experience had provided material for a series of travel-related records and articles.

The positive emotions in the latter sea sector was likely to be many and all-encompassing. However, a degree of sadness, coinciding with the contemplation of the termination of my journey, had also filtered. Further examination of this sadness indicated that its core had been a void, an emptiness that not even full.

When you disembark from the ship for the final time, the many rewards that clearly would have provided, thus inducing sadness concerning him, and emptiness can not be filled by it. However, I wonder if that gap somehow attempts to alert me that I could have had even more for the trip, whereas I had done, perhaps reducing the "incomplete" without value.

The vacuum does not seem to turn into opportunities in the current round, but those who do not fall. Time on earth is limited each person and every moment that ticks and not used to what the person values is lost forever and can not be retrieved. Time, the very dimension of physical existence, is always a reason, and can not be saved in a bank account for the subsequent withdrawal with interest. When running out for each of us, that exhaustion is forever.

Beaten by the rain, the Princess Royal negotiated the green velvet islands and patches of land Amazonia, which modifies the course of evading them, however, continued toward darkening the horizon-discovery, steel wool yarn in front.

When I leave this journey, I hope that I have used their time and opportunity to the maximum in order to have fully complied with by it. When I leave my life's journey, I also hope who have used their time and opportunity to the maximum in order to have fully complied with by it.

The realization is the first step toward change.

The dinner that night, served in the restaurant of the Club, had included the White Zinfandel, a tian of crab, scallops, shrimp and a duo of caviar and papaya coulis, squash and pear soup William covered with poppy seeds, endive, Boston lettuce, and cherry tomatoes with blue cheese, rockfish on creamy potato and vichyssoise of leeks with truffle oil, an ice cream cone ice cream, petit fours and coffee.

Orange stripes penetrated the gray streaks on the western horizon shortly after 1800, as the Royal Princess, once again, broke into the sunset.

Day Fourteen

Crawling by the blue waters of the Black River at a speed of seven knots under blue light, morning skies stamped with shreds of white clouds, the Princess Royal assumed a 217-degree heading 0830, and four miles southeast of Manaus, the capital of Amazonas state and its last port of call.

Thoughts the end of a cruise, or pleasant, rewarding journey, inevitably, turned to sadness. During two weeks of sailing, which had begun in the state Florida, in the North American continent, and ended in the state of Amazonas, in South America, the ship had been my home away from home and had become a new, albeit temporary, way of life for me, with a daily routine, daily activities, restaurants, night spots, places of interest that appear in front my door, "and both crew and fellow passengers who had begun to know and with whom he had begun to bonds, in what he had done carries all the necessary elements of a floating city, and had not been easy to leave this chapter and its players, from behind, that never again read.

People, more than any other element, had provided the nucleus of connection with all the spirits with whom I had joined as a collective whole, and walk so far been the equivalent of breaking this set, leaving the newly created, expanded and more comprehensive part behind me, myself, once again reduced to a single individual, all of which left a huge void. Is not this the feeling, although to a much more, he had had when I was separated from the set above, first and down to earth?

A substantial breakfast buffet served in the Panorama had included pink grapefruit, scrambled eggs with asparagus, grilled tomatoes, grits with cream cheese, bread and croissants, and cranberry juice with lemon.

Arcing in a right turn, the boat approached the significant size of skyscrapers, architectural monoliths of man not seen for over a week in 0915, as a plane accidentally stored in a right turn for its final approach to Manaus, which served as a rallying point is known as civilization. Laterally, the maneuvers in his own bunk starboard on the degree of three, 08-minutes of latitude south, below-the-Ecuador, the hemisphere south and 60 degrees, 01-minutes west longitude, coordinate, appendices yes, 20 minutes later, the dock ramp by the noise of the city, attacked the ears like sharp arrows, an unwanted intrusion almost unknown after the interval spent in lining primitive peoples of the Amazon. I had already hungry for return to them.

Evolved from an Indian village centered around the São José da Barra fortress built in 1669 to protect against the Dutch invaders of the current Suriname, Manaus, whose first name was "San Jose de la Barra of Black River" is located 993 miles west Belem, 475 miles west of Santarem on the Black River, and is the capital of Amazonas state, with a population of 1.8 million.

The From Black River, largest tributary of the Amazon, has a fifth of its total flow with a square of area drainage than 292,000 miles. Its darker, warmer, sediment-free water to meet the sediment-laden waters of the Amazon in Manaus, resulting in a clear blue brown border between the two which began to disappear until it reached a point several miles downstream.

Larger than a villa in 1832 to a small town in 1856, the city renamed Manaus, in the celebration their ethnic group of the most important region, the Indians Mina became the first to enjoy electricity, storm drainage, water treatment system sewer, and electric tram service. Characterized by the European skyline sprouting from the middle of the jungle that had been largely shaped by the rubber boom, whose wealth has led to 20 years, the influx European architect, between 1890 and 1910.

The rubber boom itself, controlled by about 100 rubber barons, and candles recruited employees of both Brazilian cities and tribes, and plantations, production of 90 percent of rubber in the world, large offset sums of ostentatious wealth that facilitated the construction. The quarter century nirvana, however, ended when Spain began to usurp the monopoly of Brazil as result of the 70,000 rubber tree seeds, which had been smuggled out of the country by English, Henry A. Wickham, who then had germinated in Kew Gardens in England before forwarding to the Far East.

One of the opulent, the rubber boom era buildings, the Teatro Amazonas, remains today. Opened 31 December 1896, during the administration of Filato Pires Ferreira in the business cycle peak of rubber, neo-classical opera, once performed by size of Enrico Caruso, of 701 seats while the audience and the box seats and sports a green dome, blue and yellow made from 36,000 tiles glazed ceramic and vitrified Alsace. Its lobby 300-person, supported by 16 columns rising from its marble floors, leading to the royal audience hall theater whose red velvet and tri-level boxes are flanked by low melting French columns, Corinthian columns above, 22 Greek-style masks, chandeliers, and a ceiling painted to resemble to the base of the Eiffel Tower.

The upstairs Noble Hall, which has a capacity of 200, has a plant of 12,000 interlocking, unadhesived walnut, oak, maple, and mahogany pieces, 16 cast iron columns, 32 Murano glass lamps and a ceiling with a painting by Domenico Angeles entitled "The glorification of Fine Arts in the Amazon. "

The decrease of the rubber boom led to a depression, until 1967, Manaus, where he had been declared free zone taxes, and is now the largest sector of Ecuador in commercial and industrial, whose 80,000 employees producing a wide range of electronic products. The city is the site of the largest motorcycle factory in South America.

An elegent, cruising the outcome afternoon tea if served in the restaurant of the Club Princess Royal in 1600, had included delicate smoked salmon, scones with clotted cream and jam, triangles of pumpkin and mocha cake layer number, and had taken two hours after landfall Cabarnet Sauvignon Dinner, fish and seafood avocado with lemon-cilantro vinaigrette, with grilled vegetables onion and hearts of romaine lettuce with bleu cheese dressing; freshwater barramundi in garam masala with fragrant rice, beans and carrots, chocolate mud cake rum ice cream with raisins and coffee.

Dusk set fire to the western horizon an orange bright, providing a bright background canvas for the formation cloud of gray smoke, whose bottom is lit pink during the final moments of the sun on this side of the day.

Day Fifteen

As the bus crossed the Black River bridge, extending from the vessel to the passenger terminal the next morning, hot, of course, I turned to look the Royal Princess, the "vehicle" that had allowed me to navigate my way from origin to destination and had been firmly tied to their thickness, adjusted mooring lines for the last time and thought that no matter where you start the physical journey, but where and how it ends, the same statement, you could say about the journey of life. Both have been infinitely enriched and in the process have been infinitely greater.

Coming back this way some day? I could use?
