The Marks Vs The Pauls
Trademarks vs Pauls
Here's the deal, the University of Georgia football coach and basketball Mark bothnamed the coach and coach of Georgia Tech football and basketball coach is named Paul. You follow?
Anyway, today, we will compare them and then you have to decide. Mark & Mark vs. Paul and St. Paul. They come as a package and can not be divided. There is a survey created to see who wins, because what is about to face Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia, against each other, if someone does not win.
Marche
Richt
Next a little more than a decade of disappointment at the hands of Ray Goff & Jim Donnan, Mark Richt arrived in Athens, having coached the two Heisman winners and have been part of two national championships. Quite the resume for a young coach. Vince Dooley and Michael Adams loved him, and soon the Georgia faithful too. Richt quickly made a name in Athens by beating the hated Volunteers in Knoxville on a play that can now be viewed either as a beginning "nail" or its original name, the "P-44 Haynes." When a work has two nicknames, this average is that it has done something in Athens.
In his second season, led SEC dir the title back to Athens with a crushing of Arkansas at the Georgia Dome in 2002, the first programs since 1982. This was followed with a 26-13 victory over his former employer Florida State in the Sugar Bowl to finish the season 13-1 and ranked 3rd in both polls. Its shares flew as Kelly Clarkson in a buffet.
In Richt's team 2003 returned to play for the SEC title, but lost to LSU 34-13. The team still finished 11-3, including a victory over Purdue in the Capital One Bowl and another Top 10 finish. The Dawgs entered 2004 ranked # 4 in the country. That season, Georgia posted a record of 10-2, including their first win over Florida since 1997.
The following year was the first for Richt, his first quarterback with more victories without David Greene (who had become university ever, surpassing Peyton Manning). But Bulldawg Nation was excited, however, because DJ Shockley was set to be and not in a heartbeat. Consecutive losses to Florida and Auburn ruined a dream season. The Dawgs finished beating LSU for the SEC Championship, but were overcome by the play of Steve & Slayton Pat White in the Sugar Bowl.
After a year of reconstruction In 2006, Knowshown Moreno and Matthew Stafford led Georgia to a 11-2 in the 2007 season and a # 2 final ranking in the Associated Press poll. Catapulting UGA to a # 1 ranking to start the 2008 season.
The 2008 season began with images of stars UGA Moreno & Stafford everywhere. Both were projected to climb the project and Dawg fans were licking their lips for the stage, difficult to reach the National Championship worst, the East was theirs. As the saying goes, is why play the games. 2008 was the biggest disappointment since the end of the series Growing Pains.
2009 we began the murmurs of the fire Richt. After the disappointing 2008 season, fans of Joe Cox Georgia hopes to meet expectations (mostly proffered by Richt & Bobo), and can only recharge the corridor, in the worse, they had finished in the bottom of the top 25. Obviously, this did not happen.
The Dawgs finished 8-5, but finished the season at rival State Tech, a team ranked in the top 10. The defensive struggles on the season cost Amigo Willie Martinez, DC UGA's & Richt, his work. The victory over Tech was followed by an impressive victory over the bowl of Texas A & M, especially since the D was trained by a recruiter and two assistants Postgraduate.
If not for a late loss to Kentucky, Georgia goes 9-4 and finishes the season in game five consecutive victories. Enough to keep the Georgia-lovers and speaks of a change of regime in the bay.
But frankly embarrassing losses to Florida also have really begun to boot on the loyalty of fans to Richt. Losing one of its biggest rivals a combined 90-27 (which is, curiously, a record total of Richt at UGA) in two years will. Seriously, the statistics a little scary.
Enter: Todd Grantham and his 3-4 defense. Grantham plans to confuse defenses with a range lightning seemingly endless wars and falsifications, Georgia fans are just glad his name is Willie Martinez Jr. and hope that somehow some Related Brian Van Gorder.
The people of Athens are not exactly thrilled with the performance of Mike Bobo, but Richt made his choice and shot Martinez. If the call does not get better offensive game this season, the Bobo's Latest Richt can throw on the fire before the next.
Despite speculation that Murray is the proprietor understood, I think is a legitimate battle between him and Mettenberg. Murray will have a slight advantage throughout to win in the final but will be a good battle and Mettenberg can transfer at the end of the season (unless you want to coach but to play one day).
Kiffin upset the order of things in the SEC East last year, and its output can be saved Richt UGA job by keeping the top level of the second stage of their division. (Florida is the only distant, the team class).
Richt needs to demonstrate to fans that their success does not depend entirely on the Davids (Greene and Pollack) and Van Gorder putting in a program year. That means we win the games we have to win and upset some people along the way, especially if they are rivals.
Fox
For the first time since taking over for Vince Dooley, AD Damon Evans had to make an important training room. After firing Dennis Felton, Evans went away to left field and hired Mark Fox of Nevada. Dawg fans everywhere were complacent? I had no one happy, nor anyone crazy, so everyone took a little calmly. A few months at work and basketball Georgia now deserves some attention.
The team began its non-conference schedule about average, and again the Dawgs have a tendency to start the season against some soft competition (complete juxtaposition to the football team). Then came game conferences, Felton eluded the party.
Who hires a coach of Nevada for nothing? Seriously, why even think Damon Evans Reno when searching a ball basketball coach? I'd go there for water and a good Christian before going there for a basketball coach. Go to snuff Alley and find an assistant before going to the desert for a head coach.
Because of the obvious inability of the Georgia basketball program to win anything lately, recruits who agreed to attend UGA is a sub-par. Fox has taken these sub-par performers and back, then a competitive basketball team. His team played # 3 Georgia Kentucky for cable (in Rupp Arena, no less) and has since beaten # 8 Tennessee at home.
Not only has the team shows some life into the win column, but have been putting UGA basketball on the national map. Travis Leslie had a mate, both in the game of Kentucky and Tennessee, who made ESPN Top 10 plays. Not to mention the work of Trey Thompkins & Dustin Ware.
Fox has coached this team in some close games against some good teams. What you have to do now is turn those games closed in a few more victories before this season is out.
Dawg fans a little like going to see a hunchback with a good body and a pretty face, just to overcome that hump. If he can do that, it's time to turn those wins in the best recruits, then wash, rinse, repeat. Of course, if it were that simple, there would be several groups trying to get rid of Hewitt at this time.
Of course there is a buzz and excitement around Stegeman now, but what has he done really? He has played some great teams and won some big games at home against Tech and Tennessee. But, and $ 100 you will get a seat in the upper levels in the first round of the tournament.
He almost beat some good teams? A few weeks ago my idiot uncle almost got his DeLorean to 88 mphs. He did not, therefore, he does not know today as the inventor of the pet rock and Shoe pets just not being established.
Point being, is close to sealing is close. And by no means achieved. He had three good years in Nevada, his first three years. All this emotion may be in vain, in a conference as tough as the The SEC, especially in the Eastern Division (where Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida have an advantage). Then again, winning in Georgia is definitely possible (just ask Tubby Smith and Jim Harrick), again, losing is so easy, if not easier (ie, Jirsa & Ron Dennis Felton). Fox only has to maximize off - his early success, and sooner than before.
The Pauls
Johnson
Paul Johnson did not lose time making his mark in Atlanta. And its mark left a mark of Mark (Get it?). After a disappointing 7.6 season under former head coach Chan Gailey, fans Tech has reason to be excited when Johnson left the Navy to reach Atlanta. Its triple-option offense had served in Statesboro & Annapolis, and was safely assumed that the same success will follow in Atlanta.
He had a fiery start their first year by going 9-4 with an impressive victory to finish UGA's season in Athens, in essence, completely ruined, and a disappointing season for the Dawgs while shooting to the Tech fan base for 2009. The season included a record of 6-1 at home and a 4-2 record against ranked teams (three in November). Not to mention a part of the Coastal Division title (though not enough to ensure that in ACC title game). Apart from beating LSU in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl, it was clear "Paul Ball" was the catch Peachtree Street.
Of course, high expectations for 2009. The Jackets entered the season as the preseason AP # 15. The Wreck Ramblin 'finally rose as high as number seven in the AP poll. If not for a loss in the third game to a very hot Miami team, technology comes into play against the Dawgs undefeated and ranked in the top five, certainly within shouting distance of the national title game.
But that's not what happened. Tech lost Washaun Ealey & Caleb King before taking care of Clemson in Tampa for their first ACC Championship in the era of division and their first appearance in a BCS Bowl. However, they lost Hawkeyes to 24-14, but closed the season ranked in the top 15. In his two seasons at Georgia Tech, Johnson has won two ACC Coach of the Year honors and has since added as defensive coordinator Al Groh to underpin a D. very suspicious
Moreover, how the # 7 in the country lost to unranked opponents at home? How can you allow two runners to control the whole game that way? Georgia threw the ball only 14 times and won a total of 339 yards rushing. On the positive side, Johnson wasted little time getting rid of Dave Wommack to solve the problem (unlike his counterpart in Athens he had in "Big Willie Style" like "Parents Just Do not Understand"). So, obviously, is here to do what it takes.
The main issue Tech hovering right now, as with any other team function as a unique style of offense is Developing countries when you figure out this triple option. It is almost inevitable breaches regime come-and-go, but great learn to adapt. It has a few more years before the rest of the ACC recruits get in the place to stop the triple option.
That leaves the question of who will be able to adapt when other teams adjust their defensive scheme on offense. And you can not predict with accuracy. But we must also bear in mind that what has been doing, he has been doing with Chan Gailey recruits. This thing could blow out of the water completely once their children reach the city.
His players, wizard will still not looking up to ask why. Apparently you just follow this type, say you're going to win and then make it happen. At least, that's the impression I get from players and coaches.
By Finally, is the relative weakness of the ACC this year to take anything away from the year Tech had? I was winning the ACC this year as being the hottest cheerleader at Duke? A loss in Miami, a loss to its biggest rival (even though he was at home), and a loss for the Big Ten champion are all quality losses, but the latter two much damage and you never want to end a season in a slump. You need victories in the final year for the recruits (especially against rival in the state) and gives you something to build off of next year.
The recruiting class is sub-par at the moment, but only ask what Charlie Weis As hiring gets you. For now, the Yellow Jacket fans just have to wait for the coaching staff can overcome end the season on a 1-2 run, if you can do so, the Tech football has a lot of good to his own way.
Hewitt
Hewitt arrived at Tech (through Siena) in 2000, after the 20-year career of Bobby Cremins. In his first year as head coach, Hewitt led Tech to the NCAA tournament with a record of 17-13 (8-8 conference) but could not get out of the first round. Tech opted out of the tournament next two years, spending a year over the next 15-16 and 16-15 before the 2004s make noise in March Madness.
Tray Will Bynum end sealed the game against Oklahoma State and put them in the title game against the University of Connecticut (a game they lost 82-73). The following season, the team went 20-12 (8-8) and was expelled from the second round.
Two appearances in a row in the Tech fans were dancing hope, and for good reason. After that, Hewitt jackets looked more like the teams of his first two seasons between 2003-2005. His record of more than the next four years was 57-63 (23-43), compared with 96-66 (37-43) in the last 5 years. As of this writing, Hewitt has jackets in 14.5 (3-3) and ranked 22nd in the polls. Not bad for a team that was 11-17 last year and won only two games of the conference.
Hewitt has had its ups and downs but one thing that stands out as the most shameful of Atlanta Sports Statistics at the time (now that the Hawks have won back to back seasons) is the fact that the remains have not won in Athens since the first year of the Carter administration. From Ole Mani, the Dawgs have fielded some horrible teams easily beatable, But Tech has not yet been able to do to defeat the Dawgs in Athens. Statistics such as these lead to websites like FirePaulHewitt.wordpress.com.
And Paul Hewitt has not helped. His record against Georgia is respectable, thanks to victories at home, but seriously, beyond Georgia has been terrible since Harrick left and can not beat the Dawgs at home. I know it's a rivalry, but we man.
Hewitt teams has been good to better, never finishing higher than third in the conference. However, he sent his boys to men in 2003-2004, and the man until he did. However, the amount of good publicity to get out of a great race. Dennis Felton was for half a season. Now Hewitt in the fifth year of goodwill. George W. Bush will tell you that you can only spend so much "political capital", as you have won before everyone becomes you.
With that said, it is past time for Hewitt to build a little more credibility. With the program Dawgs climbing with Fox, and the record in recent years, Hewitt had a better performance this season before it's been getting recruits in the area to leave for greener pastures in Athens. A winning record in the ACC this year means you get to at least finish his contract, but if things continue to improve in Athens, while worsening in Atlanta is better to keep your resume updated.
